Thanks to generous subsidies from our sponsors, all the registered participants and accompanying persons are invited to the social program free of charge with registeration in advance.
The conference dinner and the excursion will be provided jointly with the parallel SHIM2012 conference.
Welcome Reception
A Welcome Reception for all delegates and registered accompanying persons to ICACS-25 will be hosted at the Kyoto University Clock Tower Centennial Hall on Sunday Oct. 21 evening between 18:00 and 19:30.
Excursion
Three alternative excursion courses with lunch box will be arranged jointly for ICACS-25 and SHIM2012 participants and accompanying persons on Thursday Oct. 25 afternoon with no extra costs.
Please register also for the excursion with your course selection in your registration to the conference.
The courses will be
- Ukyo (right side of Kyoto) area, including the Kinkaku-ji and the Daitoku-ji temples, etc.,
Tips: Ukyo and Sakyo, standing for right and left sides of Kyoto, respectively, were named after the Emperors' viewpoint facing South in Gosyo, the Imperial Palace. Our Univerisity (the conference venue) is located in the Sakyo-ward, actually. - Higashiyama (east mountain) area, including the Kodai-ji and the Kiyomizu-dera temples, etc.,
Tips: Kyoto is surrounded by mountains in the east, north, and west sides, whereas a lake used to be located in the south, which was believed to be rich in geographical aspects and appropriate for a capital in Onmyodo, the Way of Yin and Yang.
Kyoto actually used to be the capital for more than 1000 years and the capital has just temporarily been shifted to Tokyo for 150 years. - Uji and Fushimi (south to Kyoto) area, including the Byodoin temple, Fushimi-Inari shrine as well as
the Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum.
We are sorry but the number of participants for this course is limited to max. 90 persons.
Note on Jun. 25: The Byodoin announced that its main building Phoenix Hall will be under repair in a temporary covering construction and tours into the Phoenix Hall will be halted until March 2014. We have decided to skip the visit to the Byodoin but going to include another brilliant place in the south Kyoto area to compensate the skip. We deeply regret your disappointment.
Conference Dinner
The ICACS-25 conference dinner will take place jointly with SHIM2012 at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto on Thursday Oct. 25 at 18:00, following the half-day excursion.

Please register also for the conference dinner in your registration to the conference.

To Accompanying Persons
We believe we are going to have lots of accompanying persons from all over the world and we would like all of you to fully enjoy your stay in Kyoto (or even in Nara, Osaka, Kobe, Nagoya, Hiroshima, ...) during the conferences, from a person being in Japan for the first time to some experts who know every corner in the city.
Kyoto is one of the best visited cities on earth and information for tourists is very well provided in English, Chinese, Deutsch, Français, Español, Italiano, Taiwanese-Chinese, Korean, ... as in Japanese.
We, therefore, would recommand you to arrange your own best tours yourself with a help of such information.
A travel information desk will be offered by the Kinki Nippon Tourist (KNT) at the conference desk from Sunday Oct. 21 to Wednesday Oct. 24 to help your arrangements, and we believe this desk is especially useful for booking an official visit inside of the Imperial Palace area, Gosyo, but not into the Imperial Buildings, provided by the governmental Imperial Household Agency, as well as for booking guided tour buses in English or English speaking tour taxis. Please note that the number of participants (not only for us but in total) for each visit into the Imperial Palace is limited and your request may not be fulfilled in case of no vacancies.
